Nexus One getting Gingerbread now?

Yesterday terryjohnson16 got a message on his Nexus One showing the following.

Is this a sign that the venerable Google flagship phone will soon be getting Gingerbread?
As of writing this, he reported that nothing has changed as far as the version number in the firmware version (Android 2.2.1, buildfrg83). Not surprising considering that this update is only 380kb. This is likely a preparation package to prepare the phone for a major update.
Nexus One users should keep their fingers crossed for Gingerbread.
